Yue Fei is an art student studying at Pratt Institute, working on the digital art and interactive installations.
"In recent years, people have been fantasizing about the future: metaverse, cyberpunk, and artificial intelligence. However, I believe it is still important to recover humans' original simplicity: find back forgotten memories and emotions. To achieve the goal, I believe the senses are the special switches of humans' emotions: the senses' familiarity, distortion, and overturn will become effective tools to immerse into the artwork.
I keep exploring human beings: something emotistituteonal, deep-rooted, and psychological. I work with interactive pieces, using human perception like sound, visuals, and smell as a medium or trigger to activate the audience’s emotion and memory. Different materials including digital media and physical materials like resin, clay, and wood are included in my work. The materials are not consistent: they depend on different works and concepts I am working on. For example, in the work “Exaggerate,” I chose to use resin to mimic water to symbolize frozen time and silence in space"
